Since last time we wrote…

Wowzers! Time flies and our well laid plans of keeping an up-to-date journal seems to have gone to seed. But fear not! We can and will improve.

Since launching our business selling ribbons earlier this year, back when the days where long and the nights short, our summer months where filled with an abundance of dye plants growing happily in the patch. We spent our days harvesting, testing, drying some of the harvest and dyeing. Along with keeping on top of the patch. For the growing side, this year was really about seeing what thrived in the patch and also what we enjoyed dyeing with, based on the results we achieved. We grew many varieties and tested them all, some with great results and some not so good, but all of this will help us narrow down what we would like to continue growing.

The Harvest

Harvesting flowers and plants for dyeing and drying

In the studio we have been putting in many hours creating our new collections which we launched first at Beaufort Christmas Market on Tuesday 22 November. And only yesterday (24th November) online. These new collections include 100% silk scarves and hair scrunchies. Included in these we have beautiful bundle dyes, solids and shibori-inspired scarves in both approx 90x90cm and 50x50cm. Our scrunchies come hand-in-hand with the scarves as they allow us to use all the silk, there by helping us along our way to be as zero-waste as possible. And as we love it - bold, colourful and big patters!

Our first Christmas market

Earlier this week we attended our first Christmas market! It was great to be out meeting and greeting, and of course it was amazing people loved our products!

The dyeing process is mega fun, it so exciting to see a textile go from plain to full of colour and pattern. We have really enjoyed creating our scarf and scrunchies collections but we don’t want you to miss out on all of the fun! We have created a DIY kit, a chance for you to create your own scarf and scrunchie duo at home. What we find the MOST exciting about these kits is that all the dye stuff included is grown right here on our dye patch! We think this is really cool and we hope you do too! Send us a picture of how yours turn out.

Looking forwards to next year, we are planning on introducing a linen/cotton range. Table runners, napkins, placemats and such like. We are also keen to learn new skills such a screen printing. Lots to do and keep us on our toes. We would love to hear from you too, if you have any feedback or just fancy a chat!

Thanks for reading and until next time!
